About BDC Development Corporation

The Tradition is Building

BDC Development Corporation has been building exceptional structures and lasting relationships on the Central Coast of California since 1971. Housing, commercial, and mixed-use building projects include elegant custom homes, premier housing developments, a luxurious condo/hotel resort, and an impressive portfolio of commercial buildings.

In leading BDC Development Corporation, brothers Jeff and Eron Loughead build on three generations of exceptional customer service and a reputation for outstanding management, construction and project supervision. Contributing their own design and construction expertise and a solid understanding of current industry standards and practices, the Lougheads continue the BDC tradition of providing superior results to their valued clients, from pre-construction to final walk through.

Three generations of Commitment to Quality

As children in Clovis, California, Jeff and Eron Loughead (pronounced, Lawhead) observed as their father and grandfather worked hard, treated people with respect, kept their promises, and focused on quality development and construction projects. Now third-generation builders and developers, Jeff and Eron keep these principals at the forefront as they operate BDC Development Corporation, the firm started in 1971 by their father Richard Loughead, Jr., who learned the trade from his own father, Richard Loughead, Sr. BDC Development Corporation has migrated from their Central Valley roots to today's location in Pismo Beach, on the Central Coast of California.

Builders and Developers

The Central Coast of California provides a beautiful setting for a growing project list including luxury accommodations for destination travelers, upscale homes, work force housing, commercial business centers, retail sites and mixed-use developments. Located in Pismo Beach, California, BDC is available for every stage of each project, from pre-development planning through final closeout.

The BDC Team

Responsive and client-driven, BDC's strong team of building industry professionals work together quickly, accurately, and efficiently. They go out of their way to give each client their full attention and provide an unmatched level of personal service. Small enough to remain cohesive, each member of the BDC team takes interest in the current status of each project. Employee morale is high and turnover is low at BDC, a testimonial to the friendly environment of the family operated Central Coast building and development company.

"We want to keep setting the bar higher than anyone else, and keep jumping over it," says Jeff Loughead. "We haven't had to do a lot of advertising because our clients have been such a good marketing team. Some of them even own more than one of our homes. I love it when I run into clients and they introduce me to others as not just a great builder, but also a friend. That keeps me going. That's the kind of business I want to be known for."

Eron Loughead agrees. "We're definitely not in the building and development industry to cash checks; we're in it to produce work we can be proud of in a community we care about and live in ourselves. Quality control, client satisfaction and community enhancement are our goals. A thriving business is really a by- the way we work, not the reason for it."

Environmental Commitment

Even before “Green” was mainstream, BDC recognized the importance of environmentally responsible construction methods as far back as 1996 when they turned to steel framing for their residential developments. Steel framing materials used in these developments were manufactured from recycled steel waste. Framing materials are all ordered to size to minimize excess waste after the framing of the home is complete. The cut-off waste that was left over actually fit into one 32-gallon trash bin, which was then recycled at a local auto recycling facility.

Other items that have always been in BDC’s specifications include the use of engineered lumber, energy efficient Low-E window glazing, energy-star appliances, high efficiency furnace, low flow water fixtures, highest value insulation for all exterior walls, interior walls and floors, recycled waste, efficient thermal systems and providing an overall healthy living environment for the homeowner and the community.
